Is LimeSurvey compatible with Prolific?

Hello everyone! I am part of a research project and my supervisor is planning to use LimeSurvey for the experiments. However, I could not be sure if LimeSurvey is compatible with Prolific. Has anybody tried using LimeSurvey before or does anybody know anything about how I can check the compatibility requirements?

Thanks a lot in advance

Hey @Ulku_Bicakci, welcome to the community! :tada:

Yep, LimeSurvey is compatible.

More generally:

Nearly all experimental software that is accessible via a share-able URL is compatible with Prolific. As long as you can send participants to your survey using an anonymous link, record their Prolific IDs and redirect them back to Prolific upon completion, your software should be compatible.

Thanks so much, Josh!!

Hello,
I wanted to use LimeSurvey for my experiments but it seems that Prolific does not accept the URL of my questionnaire… D Do you know what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance !

Dear Pauline

Welcome to the forums.

Limesurvey has been recommended as one of the systems that one can use with Prolific in the past when there was a list of compatible survey systems. This is from the Google cache

The FAQ no longer mentions a list of systems, but there is no reason to believe afaik that Limesurvey has stopped working.

I tried a LimeSurvey URL that I googled.
https://tpsurvey.ugent.be/limesurvey315/index.php/446526?lang=en
And entered it into a draft survey and previewed it, and Prolific allowed me to jump to the start page of the Limesurvey survey.

Is your LimeSurvey URL in a similar form at the one above (starting with “https://” and ending in something like “.php/123456?lang=en” ?

Would it be okay for you to share it with us?

Tim

Dear Tim,

Thank you for your answer.

This is the URL of my survey: https://enquetes.unicaen.fr/index.php/542784?lang=en . As you can see on the screenshot, an error message appears, but I don’t understand where it comes from.

Moreover, in order to record Prolific IDs, I wanted to use URL parameters but it seems that I need to set up the survey tool. Do you have any LimeSurvey integration guide ?

Thank you in advance for your answers,

Best regards,

Thank you Pauline

When I attempt to go to your survey link
https://enquetes.unicaen.fr/index.php/542784?lang=en!
I am told that access is not authorised, in French. Perhaps it is only for those on your campus, or only for those who are logged in (please see this image below)
Nonautorise|690x207

Perhaps that is why Prolific says that the URL is not valid.

There does not appear to be a Prolific LimeSurvey integration guide yet, but perhaps the URL parameters would work if the URL was accessible?

By the way, I use Google forms and get participants to copy their ID.

Tim

Thank you Tim. I activated the link to allow access. Yet, it still doesn’t seem to work. I asked the limesurvey managers at my university but they couldn’t help me either. I feel a bit desperate…
Thank you for your advices.
Best regards,
Pauline

Hi Tim,

unfortunately I face the same problem. I want to use following limesurvey-link:
https://eship.survey.uni-bayreuth.de/index.php?r=survey/index&sid=486272&lang=de and the console gives me the error code: “Please enter a valid URL”. Did you find a proper solution to this?

Thank you a lot!

Best,

Nima

Hi Nima,

were you able to solve the problem after all? I am facing the same issue at the moment.

Thanks so much!

Annedore

Hi everyone,

at least in my case the problem was a space that I accidentally copied and pasted everytime I tried to transfer the link from Limesurvey to Prolific. I couldn’t believe my own eyes when I found out as I’ve never had this issue before and then today a few times in a row with different links.

Best,
Annedore

Dear Nima

Welcome to the community

Thanks for letting us know the problem with your URL, Annedore

I can’t see a space in either URL!

One solution might be to make shortcut to the same link.

Perhaps that will work. It was working last night (Tokyo time) but today there is an error.

in addition to

there is also
